An Indian student sustained severe injuries during a shooting rampage in Canada last week. He succumbed to his injuries on Saturday.

The death toll in last week’s shooting rampage in Canada’s Ontario province climbed to three with an Indian student succumbing to his injuries. Satwinder Singh (28) had sustained severe injuries during the attack and was undergoing treatment at the Hamilton General Hospital. He succumbed to his injuries on Saturday.

On September 12, a man shot and killed two people, including a police constable. He had also injured three others before police tracked the suspect down and killed him.

The owner of MK Auto Repairs was shot dead by the accused. Satwinder Singh, who was working part-time at MK Auto Repairs at the time of shooting, was injured in the attack.

Satwinder Singh had not met his father since before the Covid-19 pandemic. However, the Canada shootout changed things for worse.

According to an online GoFundMe page honouring Singh, the former international student had been on life support and had been declared brain-dead.

On Saturday, surrounded by grieving family and relatives, Singh was pulled off life support, Sarabjot Kaur, a cousin who grew up with Singh, told Toronto Star newspaper.

Satwinder Singh, who obtained an MBA in marketing in India, was a student at Conestoga College. The GoFundMe post described Singh as a “loving son, brother and grandson who will be missed daily.” He had a passion for reading and writing poetry.
