Amid incessant rainfall and floods, the India Today crew joined in the rescue operations to save trapped animals in Gujarat.
In neck-deep water, an India Today crew on Friday joined the rescue operation to save over 1,200 animals trapped inside a 24-acre shelter home in flood-hit Navsari district in Gujarat.
The animals are being cared for by the Bhagwan Mahavir Vishwa Trust in the midst of heavy rain and flooding.
In the last 24 hours, over 42 animals have died as the water level crossed 15 ft.
"These animals and birds are my family. I will not leave them at any cost," Anil Dave, the 78-year-old manager, told India Today.
Anil Dave claimed that water pumps are being used to remove flood water as they wait for the monsoon fury to end.
Navsari has been badly hit due to the torrential rains and increasing water levels in the Purna river. The water level in the Purna river has gone up due to the dams overflowing in Maharashtra.
"The district administration team worked from the previous night to 5:30 am today and rescued all the people who were stuck," an official statement from the chief minister's office said.

The matter pertains to a petition filed by one Nikhil Kumar Punia, who was born into an upper-caste Hindu family but supposedly converted to Buddhism later. He, along with another General Category candidate, has sought minority reservation benefits for admission to a Buddhist medical college on grounds of their purported conversion.

Energy disruption due to the war in the Middle East has exposed India's dependence on imported gas. It has prompted a policy shift mandating a switch from LPG to piped natural gas (PNG) where available. With supply constraints looming, the government is fast-tracking pipelines and pushing a nationwide transition to strengthen energy security.
