I have been lucky to sing 48 songs with Lata Didi: Shabbir Kumar

Singer Shabbir Kumar said that he has been fortunate to sing 48 songs with Lata Mangeshkar on Aaj Tak's special ode to the Nightingale of India - Shradhanjali Tum Mujhe Bhula Na Paoge.

Singer Shabbir Kumar, on Aaj Tak's special ode to the Nightingale of India - Shradhanjali Tum Mujhe Bhula Na Paoge, revealed that after 1980, he was the only singer who sang the maximum songs with Lata Mangeshkar. His first song with Lata Didi was for the film Betaab, which starred Sunny Deol and Amrita Singh.

Speaking about Lata Mangeshkar, Shabbir Kumar said, "Hamare liye jeene ka sahara rahi hai Lata didi, After the 80s, so many singers came but I have been the luckiest one because I got to sing 48 songs with her. I went to the US, Canada and the Gulf countries along with Lata Didi and got to do many stage shows together. Once, she was having vada pav and offered me too. She told me people like our duets very much. I told her that she enlightened me with her talent. My first due with Didi was for film Betaab, which was Badal Kyun Garajta Hai and the seconf song was also for Betaab, Jab Hum Jawaan Honge.

Lata Mangeshkar was cremated with full state honours at Shivaji Park, Mumbai. Sachin Tendulkar and his wife Anjali Tendulkar attended Lata Didi's final rites. Besides Sachin and Anjali, Shah Rukh Khan, Shraddha Kapoor, Rahul Vaidya and other eminent personalities paid last respects to Lata Mangeshkar.
