Grama Sabha meetings were held in Salem and Namakkal districts on Thursday.
Namakkal District Collector S. Uma, who participated in the Grama Sabha meeting held at Senkarai in Kolli Hills, explained the schemes implemented in that area and discussions were held regarding panchayat expenses, patta, building approval, and implementation of schemes.
The Collector said development works worth ₹12 crore were taking place in Kolli Hills under the Prosperous Region Development Scheme and steps were being taken to get more funds. Hemoglobinopathy screening camps would be held for six months in Kolli Hills. The government had allocated ₹3.50 crore to renovate the Government Hospital at Semmedu in Kolli Hills and works were going on, the Collector added.
The Collector distributed welfare assistance worth ₹71.52 lakhs to 212 beneficiaries. In Salem district, Collector R. Brindha Devi participated in the Grama Sabha meeting held at Athanurpatti panchayat in Vazhapadi panchayat union.
