The construction of a new building for the Government Dental College, Alappuzha has been completed.
The three-storey building has been constructed at a cost of ₹3.85 crore in accordance with the standards prescribed by the Dental Council of India. Officials said that it is fully equipped with all necessary facilities for learning and training.
The facility includes four classrooms, a clinic, an examination hall that can accommodate 50 students at a time, an auditorium with a seating capacity of 500, a library and separate rooms for the Principal, teachers, staff, and nurses. Classes for students have already been shifted to the new building. The official inauguration will be held soon, said an official.
The dental college comprises nine departments- Oral Medicine and Radiology, Public Health Dentistry, Oral Pathology and Microbiology, Pedodontics and Preventive Dentistry, Periodontics, Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Orthodontics and Prosthodontics.
The construction of hostels and staff quarters will be completed in the next phase.
