Bengaluru's GBA Budget may exceed ₹21,000 crores, with each corporation receiving over ₹4,200 crores for development.
The Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) Budget is expected to cross a total outlay of ₹21,000 crore, with each corporation likely to cross a budget size of around ₹4,200 crore.
In 2025-26, the total Budget for erstwhile Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) was pegged at ₹19,927.08 crore.
The Bengaluru West Corporation is expected to receive the largest slice of the funds, while East Corporation getting the least. This is the first time civic administration is moving to a five-corporation structure, with each of the city’s newly formed corporations having its own Budget.
The Budget estimates prepared across a few corporations also indicate a revenue surplus of around ₹850-₹900 crore each, with projected revenue receipts of roughly ₹2,400-₹2,500 crore against expenditure of about ₹1,500-₹1,600 crore for 2026-27. | Photo Credit: K. MURALI KUMAR
During the early stages, the estimates were pegged at around ₹1,300-₹1,500 crore. However, senior officials said the corporations had initially expected their Budgets to be capped at around ₹3,000 crore, as nearly ₹1,500 crore had already been allocated between September, when the GBA was formed, and March, to manage finances. The latest projections, therefore, the official added, mark a significant upward revision.

Officials said, “This suggests the new civic bodies are expected to comfortably meet their routine operational expenses from their own revenues. However, substantial spending on infrastructure and development works is likely to absorb much of this surplus, leaving only a marginal overall balance.”
