Gadag Zilla Panchayat CEO inspects flood-affected villages, emphasizes on timely relief and protection of lives and public assets.
Chief Executive Officer of Gadag Zilla Panchayat Bharath S. on Friday visited rain-affected and flood-prone villages of Asuti, Hole Alur, Menasagi and Amaragol villages in Ron taluk of Gadag district and reviewed the situation.
Mr. Bharath visited rain-damaged farmland, houses and the rehabilitation centre set up for providing shelter to people displaced by inundation of houses. He also inspected the facilities provided at the centre.
He asked officials to ensure that the officer and personnel concerned are available to manage any contingency in case of flash floods due to rainfall. Any serious problem should be immediately brought to the notice of higher-ups for finding solution, he said.
Mr. Bharath asked them to protect lives on priority in case of any calamity. Their second priority will be to protect public assets.
People residing in low-lying areas should be convinced of the need to move to relief rehabilitation centres or safer places well in advance and officials should work in coordination to ensure that relief reaches the needy at the earliest, he said.
He also visited Atal Bihari Vajpayee Residential School at Abbigeri and inspected the facilities available there. He was accompanied by taluk level officials.
