Former Deputy Superintendent of Police Anupama Shenoy said police should investigate into alleged role of members of the proscribed Popular Front of India (PFI) into the murder of retired Director General and Inspector General of Police (DG-IGP) Om Prakash
Talking to reporters in Mangaluru Press Club on Satruday, Ms. Shenoy, who is now an advocate in Udupi, said Prakash’s wife Pallavi has revealed in a whatsapp chat about the retired DG-IGP’s links with PFI.
Ms. Shenoy said she suspects Prakash being under pressure from political leaders to bring in PFI members into the police force. “Instead of looking at Pallavi’s reported admission of her husband’s murder, the investigation officer should also look into alleged involvement of PFI members in the murder,” she said.
Ms. Shenoy resigned from service in 2016 following tiff with the then Ballari District in charge Minister P.T. Parameshwar Naik.
Ms. Shenoy said following resignation she met several leaders, including Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and filed compliant against Mr. Prakash. “I then had released three audio files related to Mr. Prakash, Mr. Naik and (police officer) S. Murugan.” If an inquiry had been done then Mr. Prakash’s could have been alive now, she said.
Ms. Shenoy said PFI members might have threatened Pallavi of her life and that of her children to force her to admit of murdering her husband.
Ms. Shenoy, the former Deputy Superintendent of Police said she has written a letter in this regard to the DG-IGP Alok Mohan.
