Eid 2026: As Ramadan, one of the holiest months in the Islamic lunar calendar, comes to an end, Muslims across the world are eagerly waiting for the sighting of the crescent moon. This moon sighting signals the beginning of the month of Shawwal, whose first day is celebrated as Eid al-Fitr in 2026.
This year, India is expected to celebrate Eid on March 20 (Friday) or March 21 (Saturday). In Saudi Arabia, the festival is likely to fall on March 19 (Thursday) or March 20 (Friday). The final date will depend on the sighting of the crescent moon by the official moon-sighting committees in each country.
In India and Pakistan, Ramadan fasting began on February 19, so Eid is expected to be celebrated on March 20, after moon sighting on March 19.
