Eid 2026 will either be celebrated in India, Pakistan and the rest of south Asia on March 20 or March 21, subject to appearance of the moon.
Eid 2026: Ramadan, one of the holiest months in the Islamic lunar calendar is coming to an end, and Muslims around the world are awaiting the sighting of the crescent moon which marks the end of a lunar month, and will ring in the Islamic month of Shawwal, the first day of which is celebrated as Eid-ul-Fitr 2026.
Similar to other major events and festivals in Islam, the exact date of Eid depends on the length of the lunar month, which can be either 29 or 30 days, subject to appearance of the crescent moon. This makes it difficult to predict the beginning of the new month.
According to the Astronomy Center forecast, moon sighting in Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Dubai and other Gulf states is expected on March 18, which means the means the auspicious festival of Eid-ul-Fitr will likely be celebrated in Saudi Arabia and neighbouring gulf nations either on March 19 or March 20, 2026.
