
Dream big and work hard to succeed, Governor tells students

Governor R. N. Ravi urges young Indians to dream big, work hard, and contribute to India's economic transformation.
Young Indians must contribute to India’s ongoing economic and technological transformation, which has made the country the cynosure of the world, by dreaming big and working hard, Governor R. N. Ravi said on Saturday.
Addressing students at the 13th convocation ceremony of Indian Institute of Management — Tiruchi (IIM-T), the Governor said, “At the time of Independence, despite the exploitation of colonial rulers, we were the sixth largest economy in the world. Over six-and-a-half decades, it became 11th. The world had written us off. But today, we are the world’s fastest growing economy. We have been the engine of global growth.”
Commenting on women’s participation in economic activity, Mr. Ravi said a majority of the over 1.5 crore Mudra loan beneficiaries in Tamil Nadu were women as of December 2024. “I have seen in the villages of Tamil Nadu, how women are contributing to the economy by taking these loans. They were considered unproductive members before. Today, they are the hope of their family, and in a position to provide employment to others.” .
The large number of women in higher education also showed the power of ‘Nari Shakti’, he added.
Mr. Ravi advised graduates to focus on their personal growth by choosing life partners who shared their values. “Your spouse must be a partner who is willing to stand by you through thick and thin. You can take on the world in times of crisis when you come home and find a smiling spouse waiting for you. In your journey, you will age, but you must grow holistically.”
The Governor also urged encouraged students to familiarise themselves with the country’s heritage.
A total of 355 students of the Post-Graduate Programme in Management (PGPM), 53 of PGPM-Human Resources, 46 of PGP Business Management offered at the Chennai campus of IIM-T, and three doctoral programme graduates received their degrees on Saturday.
