Dhurandhar actor Gaurav Gera revisited a letter that he sent to his parents in 1998. The emotional note offered a glimpse into his journey before making it into films.
Amid the success of Dhurandhar The Revenge, actor Gaurav Gera has shared an old letter from 1998 that he wrote to his parents during his early days as a struggling actor. The 52-year-old plays Mohammad Aalam in the film, directed by Aditya Dhar and starring Ranveer Singh in the lead role.
On Sunday, the actor posted a handwritten letter from more than two decades ago on Instagram. The letter gave an insight into his struggles after moving from Delhi to Mumbai to pursue acting.
In the caption, Gaurav wrote, “This letter to my parents - December 3 1998 .. less than a month since I moved to Mumbai. This is 28 years ago... so no emails, letters.. of course after that lots tv, some films, ad films, musical plays, radio, TikTok, reels .. been a lovely journey with ups and downs.. (sic)"
"God has been kind.. but this Dhurandhared .. don't know what future holds .. but I want to thank my 23-year-old self for staying hopeful and Ma Pa for endless support #DhurandharTheRevenge (sic).”
Excerpts from the letters, dated December 3, 1998, show Gaurav talking about how he is waiting for things to materialise for him. It read, “Dear Mumma and Papa, How are you guys? I’m really well over here. Nothing has materialised on the money front for me, but I hope to do well soon. There’s a lot of work here compared to Delhi (sic).”
“In the mornings, I meet various people for work, and in the evenings I have my rehearsals. The play is a musical ‘Man Of La Mancha.’ It’s a very well-known musical, and it’s a prestigious group to be associated with (sic),” Gera continued.

Aditya Dhar doesn't make it easy to watch Dhurandhar: The Revenge. He lets you experience the discomfort, the silence that haunts and the screams that linger longer than you want. But at the centre of it all is India's clear policy: anti-terror, not anti-Pakistan. Consider this your spoiler warning.
