
Delhi: Three held for looting Rs 25 lakh at gunpoint in Bara Hindu Rao

Delhi police busted a gang of robbers and nabbed three people for allegedly robbing Rs 25 lakh at gunpoint in Bara Hindu Rao area a few days back.
The Crime Branch of Delhi police arrested three people for allegedly robbing Rs 25 lakh from a collection agent at gunpoint in Bara Hindu Rao, Delhi. Police identified the accused as Rajbir (46), Ganesh Chand (39) and Sumit Kumar (24).
The three accused robbed an agent on April 18 and had been involved in multiple crimes in Delhi. Wazir was even arrested under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA).
On April 18, police received a complaint from one Sapan that he and his colleague had gone to collect cash from a money exchange office in Karol Bagh. When they reached DCM Road near Kishan Ganj Metro station, four people on two separate two-wheelers surrounded them and snatched Rs 25 lakh kept in the boot of the scooter and ran away from the spot.
On April 29, acting on a tip-off, police arrested Ganesh, a resident of Chander Vihar, Delhi. Police also seized gold and a two-wheeler that he had purchased with the help of the looted amount.
At the instance of accused Ganesh Chand, police also arrested Sumit from Vijay Vihar area and Rajbir from Budh Vihar area. Rajbir arranged weapons and also provided shelter to these accused persons. Their other associates are absconding.
Rajbir aka Wazir is an associate of the Sudhir Kala gang and used to provide weapons to criminals.

The matter pertains to a petition filed by one Nikhil Kumar Punia, who was born into an upper-caste Hindu family but supposedly converted to Buddhism later. He, along with another General Category candidate, has sought minority reservation benefits for admission to a Buddhist medical college on grounds of their purported conversion.
