Delhi Chief Minister allocates ₹125 crore for new equipment and announces plans for fire station construction and revamp.
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Friday visited the Delhi Fire Services (DFS) headquarters at Barakhamba Road to assess the department’s preparedness for emergencies and announced the allocation of ₹125 crore for the procurement of new equipment.
The allocation was from ₹500 crore announced for the department in the Delhi budget 2025-26.
She also announced the construction of fire stations in the under-served areas.
“A long-overdue revamp of the fire control room is also under way to transform it into a fully computerised, state-of-the-art hub,” Ms. Gupta said.
She said the money has been allotted to purchase four aerial water towers, 17 water bowsers, and 24 quick response vehicles.
She said the DFS headquarters will be rebuilt, and Delhi Home Minister Ashish Sood is closely monitoring the project.
She added that the government also plans to launch advanced programmes to prepare firefighters for high-risk operations. “To improve fire relief and accident response in the colonies that are not easily accessible, our government has planned to establish 100 permanent stations for small fire vehicles,” Mr. Sood said.
