Over two years have passed since the first case of coronavirus was recorded in China. The world is now slowly limping back to some form of normalcy amid the threat of the Omicron variant of coronavirus.

India has been one of the worst-hit nations with at least 5,09,011 reported Covid deaths so far. New Covid cases in India fell significantly this week. While the average daily case figure was 1.4 lakh in the week ending February 7, it dropped by 59.4 per cent to 56,217 this week. Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat and Punjab have witnessed a fall of around 70 per cent in average daily cases in the same period. Around 58,10,880 people have died across the globe. 1. The US continues to be the worst-hit country with 910,982 deaths and 76,983,188 cases, according to the World Health Organisation.
