Stating that true success in life is not limited to degrees or awards, Cmde. Berson said success lies in achieving one’s dreams. He was speaking at the annual day celebrations of Alva’s Autonomous College in Moodbidri.

Quoting the words of Martin Luther King Jr., he explained the importance of vision and character in shaping the future. He gave examples of people like Walt Disney and Dr. Sasse who overcame many failures and achieved success. Sharing his life experiences of having speech impediment, Cmde. Berson described a situation where he was about to be expelled from the college due to indecent behaviour. The second chance in life helped him to reshape himself and serve in the Indian Navy, the officer said.
Asking students to choose the armed forces, Cmde. Berson appreciated the Alva’s organisation for contributing to nation building by developing talents in many fields through leadership and patriotism.
Alva’s Education Foundation Chairman M. Mohan Alva said in the changing education system, there is a need to strengthen traditional courses. “We need to maintain innovation, quality and relevance to compete with global universities.“ Education that adapts to the changes of the times can strengthen the future of students and contribute to the development of the country.
