Chief Minister Siddaramaiah emphasizes development in Periyapatna with guarantee schemes, agricultural support, and infrastructure projects worth ₹439.88 crore.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Saturday said that development works at Periyapatna are being implemented along with guarantee schemes, and they will not be stopped under any circumstances.
He was speaking after inaugurating and laying the foundation stone for various projects at a cumulative cost of ₹439.88 crore. The fact that a slew of projects have been inaugurated or for which the foundation has been laid is an indication that development works have not been compromised for implementing the guarantee schemes, Mr. Siddaramaiah said.
The Chief Minister said Periyapatna is primarily an agricultural region, and hence, agricultural machinery was being distributed at subsidised rates.
“Our government has introduced a ‘Machinery on Rent’ scheme to provide access to equipment on a rental basis, which will help increase farmers’ income. Last year, there was good rainfall, which resulted in a good harvest. As the meteorological department has predicted good rains, one can expect a good yield this year as well,” Mr. Siddaramaiah said.
He referred to the five guarantee schemes being implemented by the government in the State and said the development works have not been affected. “Ours is a government that walks the talk,” the Chief Minister said.
Underlining the benefits of the guarantee schemes, Mr. Siddaramaiah said that over 400 crore women have travelled free of charge in government buses so far. In addition to the earlier provision of 5 kg of rice, an additional 5 kg is being provided free. The Chief Minister said that ₹50,018 crores have been reserved for guarantee schemes, and ₹83,000 crores have been reserved for asset-creation schemes.
Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar said Congress implemented people-friendly programmes, and this was evident in the guarantee schemes and other projects.
