CM Gupta hands over appointment letters to dependent of 1984 anti-Sikh riots victims

Delhi CM Rekha Gupta provides jobs and recognition to 1984 anti-Sikh riot victims, vows support for Kashmiri migrants and COVID-19 victims.

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Tuesday handed over the appointment letters to dependent of families affected by the 1984 anti-Sikh riots.

While distributing the letters at a ceremony held at the Delhi Secretariat, Ms. Gupta said the Delhi government has not just provided jobs, but also recognised the dignity and identity of thousands of families who had waited decades for justice.

“The 1984 riots remain a dark chapter in the history of India. For those who lost loved ones, no compensation can ever be enough for their pain. The process of delivering justice to the riot victims and punishing the perpetrators truly began after Prime Minister Narendra Modiji assumed power at the Centre,” Ms. Gupta said.

She added, “Today, as we have appointed 125 individuals, with 19 already having joined their duties.”

The CM also spoke about the Kashmiri migrant families. “Past governments ignored their struggles for too long. Our government has resolved to offer full support, and disbursement of pending aid and grants has already begun,” she said.

She said a special committee has been formed to look into the compensation for COVID-19 victims.
