Chargesheet filed in suicide abetment case of former ADM Kannur, naming former district panchayat president as accused.
The chargesheet in the suicide abetment case of former Additional District Magistrate, Kannur, K. Naveen Babu was filed at the Kannur Judicial First Class Magistrate Court on Saturday evening.
Town Police Inspector Sreejith Koderi submitted the chargesheet . In three volumes, the chargesheet, spanning about 480 pages, includes statement from 97 witnesses. The police team has filed the chargesheet five months after the ADM’s death.
Former district panchayat president P.P Divya has been named as the sole accused in the case.
According to the chargesheet, Ms. Divya’s speech at Naveen Babu’s farewell meeting prompted him to commit suicide. Investigators have concluded that Ms. Divya deliberately attended the event without invitation with the intent to insult the ADM. The document also states that she arranged for a local television channel to record the speech and personally circulated the footage from her phone.
However, no suicide note or other direct evidence linking the death to a specific cause has been found.
