Yashoda Hospital inaugurates Centre of Excellence for Robotic Neurosurgery and Neuro Endoscopy, advancing minimally invasive brain surgeries globally.
A two-day international summit and live workshop titled ‘Skull Base Endoscopy’ commenced at Yashoda Hospital, Hyderabad, on Saturday. The summit also marked the inauguration of a Centre of Excellence for Robotic Neurosurgery and Neuro Endoscopy by Health Secretary Christina Z. Chongthu.
Speaking at the launch, Ms. Christina highlighted the importance of the new centre. She said, “This will be a centre for managing neurological conditions through endoscopic or endoscope-assisted surgeries, particularly benefiting brain tumour patients across India. Over the past two decades, the use of endoscopes in brain and spine surgeries has advanced significantly, offering a minimally invasive approach, better visualisation, complete disease alleviation, and faster recovery.”
The event witnessed participation from more than 500 delegates, including neurosurgeons and neurologists, from across India and around the world.
Yashoda Hospital Group Director Pavan Gorukanti said, “The transorbital approach is evolving and opening new pathways in skull base disease treatment through unexplored corridors. Through panel discussions, the summit will clarify what, when, where, and how to approach these diseases.”
About the future of neurosurgery, senior neurosurgeon Ayyadurai R. said, “The robotic system offers unmatched precision in reaching the deepest structures of the brain, addressing a wide range of neurosurgical conditions. This centre will not only serve patients from India but will also be at the forefront of treating international patients in need of advanced brain surgeries. Additionally, it will function as a certified training centre for neurosurgeons from across the country and abroad.”
