Designed with cutting-edge stealth features and the ability to strike deep inside enemy territory, the drone represents a major shift in how India plans to fight future wars.
India is preparing for the future of warfare, where battles are increasingly fought in the skies using advanced aircraft and drones. As countries like China expand their fleet of fifth-generation fighter jets such as the J-20 and invest heavily in next-generation drone technology, India is also stepping up its efforts. The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) is developing an indigenous unmanned combat aerial vehicle (UCAV) named ‘Ghatak’, which means deadly.
Ghatak is expected to become a key pillar of India’s future air combat strength. Designed with cutting-edge stealth features and the ability to strike deep inside enemy territory, the drone represents a major shift in how India plans to fight future wars.
One of Ghatak’s biggest strengths lies in its flying-wing design. Unlike traditional aircraft, it has no distinct wings and uses hidden engine intakes. This reduces its radar cross-section, making it extremely difficult for enemy air defence systems to detect. Such stealth capability allows it to enter heavily defended zones and carry out precision strikes on critical targets.
