BESCOM calls on Bengaluru RWAs to promote rooftop solar adoption under the PM Surya Ghar scheme, boosting local installations.
The Bangalore Electricity Supply Company Limited (BESCOM) has requested Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs) and Apartment Owners’ Associations in Bengaluru to work with the utility to promote rooftop solar installations under the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana.
During a meeting, N. Shivashankar, Managing Director, BESCOM, said RWAs and apartment associations could play a crucial role in encouraging residents to adopt rooftop solar systems. He called on association representatives to cooperate with BESCOM to ensure the implementation of the scheme across Bengaluru.
He also directed BESCOM field officers to coordinate with apartment associations and resident groups in the coming days, engage with residents, create awareness about the scheme and provide guidance on the installation process.
A total rooftop solar capacity of 4.87 MW has already been installed under the scheme within BESCOM’s jurisdiction, and 137 applications have been received so far, BESCOM said.

India today manufactures almost every type of railway rolling stock — locomotives, coaches, wagons, metro cars and modern trainsets — in large numbers and at competitive cost. Over decades, the railway manufacturing ecosystem has matured through dedicated Production Units of Indian Railways, PSUs and a large vendor base. Yet, despite this capacity and experience, India remains largely absent from the global market for railway vehicles.
