GBA releases revised voter list for Bengaluru civic polls; objections accepted until March 16.
After several complaints were received from the public and political parties about voters’ names not appearing in the wards where they reside, the revised draft voters’ list for 369 wards across five corporations under the Greater Bangalore Authority (GBA) was published on Monday (March 9, 2026). According to the revised draft list, there are 8,024 polling stations, and a total of 88,92,528 voters. Previously, there were 88,91,411 voters, as per the GBA.
According to the revised draft electoral roll, the voting list comprises of 45,69,752 men, 43,21,143 women and 1,633 voters in ‘other’ category. Among the wards, Ward No. 51 Subramanya Nagar in the Bengaluru South City Corporation has the highest number of voters at 54,026, while Ward No. 16 Kottur in the Bengaluru East City Corporation has the lowest number at 10,940 voters.
The citizens can raise claims or objections by March 16. Corrections identified during this period will be incorporated between March 17 and March 18, followed by quality checks from March 20 to March 22. The final voter list will then be generated between March 23 and March 27 and printed between March 28 and April 4, with the final electoral roll scheduled to be published on April 6, M. Maheshwar Rao, Chief Commissioner, GBA, said during a press conference.
The ward-wise revised draft voters’ list will be available on the GBA website, where voters can search for their names using their EPIC number or name. The list will also be available at voter registration offices and ward offices.
The earlier draft electoral roll, prepared as per directions issued by the State Election Commission were published on January 19. However, several residents and political parties complained that voters’ names were either missing or listed under wards other than those in which they geographically reside. Based on directions issued by the Commission on February 12, correction work in the ‘From-to Matrix’ was carried out between February 16 and February 20 to rectify these discrepancies, Mr. Rao said.
When asked about the Census, the GBA Chief preparations are likely to begin in April. On Special Intensive Revision (SIR), he said no directions have been received so far and that the authorities will act in accordance with any instructions issued.
