Koramangala police arrest sweet shop staffer for recording woman in washroom, victim speaks out on social media.
The Koramangala police have arrested a housekeeping worker of a sweet shop on the charges of recording a woman on his mobile phone while she was in the washroom on April 25, 2025.
The victim, a 25-year-old private firm employee, had gone to Anand Sweets on Koramangala 60 feet road to use the washroom at around 8 p.m.
While using the washroom, the women noticed a movement through the fibre glass wall in front of her. When she bent down to check, she was startled to see a mobile phone. Upon looking closer, she was shocked to see the mobile phone move and realised that someone was recording her from outside.
She immediately raised an alarm and later approached the police to file a complaint.
Based on the complaint, the police registered an FIR against an unknown person charging him under Section 77 (crime of voyeurism, which involves capturing, observing, or disseminating images of someone engaging in a private act) and arrested the accused. However, they could not retrieve the phone he used to record.
The victim later posted her ordeal on social media account, highlighting how unsafe public places had become while urging women to stand up to sexual predators.
“On April 25th, I was recorded inside a washroom at a trusted, popular place I’ve visited since childhood. What followed was a nightmare—panic, police, confessions, and emotional manipulation. They told me to stay quiet ‘for my business’ and to ‘move on.’ But I refused. Because silence protects predators. To every woman out there: you’re not paranoid for checking. You’re not overreacting for speaking up. You’re powerful. And you deserve safety—even in a washroom,” she wrote in an Instagram post.
