Bengaluru North police recover 107 stolen mobile phones worth ₹21.4 lakh using the CEIR system, returning them to owners.
In a special operation, the North Division police recovered 107 stolen and lost mobile phones worth around ₹21.4 lakh using the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) portal and returned them to their rightful owners on Monday (March 9, 2026).
The operation covered 13 police stations under the North Division of Bengaluru City Police. Police officers and staff traced the missing phones using the CEIR system, which helps block and track mobile devices based on their IMEI numbers.
According to police, the phones were recovered between February 2026 and March 9, 2026. The recovered devices, belonging to various brands, were formally handed over to the owners by B.S. Nemagouda, Deputy Commissioner of Police, North Division.
The recovery drive was carried out by teams from all police stations in the division under the supervision of the Assistant Commissioners of Police of the Malleswaram, Yeshwanthpur, and J.C. Nagar sub-divisions, along with officers of the CEN Cyber Crime Police Station.
Police urged the public to register details of lost or stolen mobile phones on the CEIR portal or file a complaint at the nearest police station, as it significantly improves the chances of tracing and recovering the devices.
Police in the advisory added that citizens should immediately report lost phones and submit the device’s IMEI number to help authorities block and track the handset through the CEIR system.

India today manufactures almost every type of railway rolling stock — locomotives, coaches, wagons, metro cars and modern trainsets — in large numbers and at competitive cost. Over decades, the railway manufacturing ecosystem has matured through dedicated Production Units of Indian Railways, PSUs and a large vendor base. Yet, despite this capacity and experience, India remains largely absent from the global market for railway vehicles.
