Students should be careful about what they write in their social media accounts, as companies now look closely on job aspirants activity on the social media, said motivational speaker and cyber crime expert G. Ananth Prabhu, in Mangaluru on Tuesday.
Mr. Prabhu was speaking in the workshop on “Lateral Thinking” organised by St. Aloysius (Deemed to be University) School of Business and Management, in association with The Hindu.
Mr. Prabhu said most of the companies now ask for the social media profile of job aspirants. The companies check aspirant’s social media accounts to look at the posts and comments. “Therefore, you should be careful about your data (on social media accounts),” he said.
During the course, Mr. Prabhu said, the students should learn a foreign language. It was also important to participate in events like hackathon and add new skills. While gaining knowledge, it was important to add new skills to one’s profile. Regular reading of books and newspapers will go a long way in shaping one’s career. “You should be good to yourself and not compare yourself with others,” he told students.
