BBMP unveils ₹19,927.08 crore budget for 2025-26, with focus on infrastructure, maintenance, public welfare, and waste management.
The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has unveiled its budget for the financial year 2025-26, outlining key allocations across various sectors. The total budget stands at ₹19,927.08 crore, with significant portions directed toward infrastructure, maintenance, and public welfare.
A major share of 65% of the budget, amounting to ₹12,952.20 crore, has been allocated for development works, highlighting the administration’s focus on urban expansion and improvements. Operation and maintenance expenses account for 10% of the total budget, equating to ₹1,968.70 crore, ensuring that the city’s essential services remain functional.
Solid waste management, a critical concern for the metropolis, has been assigned ₹1,400 crore, making up 7% of the total budget. This reflects BBMP’s continued efforts to enhance waste disposal systems and maintain cleanliness. Establishment expenses, which include salaries and administrative costs, constitute 9% of the budget at ₹1,751.23 crore, while administrative expenses alone are set at ₹393.01 crore, making up 2%.
Public welfare initiatives, including health, education, and social programs, receive 4% of the budget, with ₹857.44 crore designated for these areas. Meanwhile, refunds of deposits and cess have been allocated ₹604.50 crore, accounting for 3% of the total expenditure.
