Anupam Kher shared a video of youngsters urging people to watch The Kashmir Files and called the film ‘a movement’. The movie shows the hard-hitting truth of the Kashmir Genocide.

The Kashmir Files has struck a chord with people from all generations and the movie is running houseful in theatres. Starring Anupam Kher and Mithun Chakraborty, the Vivek Agnihotri directorial venture has created movie history with its staggering box-office collections. Now, Anupam Kher has called it ‘a movement’ while sharing a video of youngsters promoting the film.

The Kashmir Files is dominating the box office. The film minted Rs 60.20 crore in five days of its release and has been receiving positive responses from all quarters. It is brutal, emotional and tells the truth of the exodus of Hindus from Kashmir in the 1990s, during the Kashmir insurgency.

On March 16, Anupam Kher shared a video of two young men promoting The Kashmir Files on the streets and calling it a ‘must watch’ film. The veteran actor was touched by this gesture. He wrote, “It is so wonderful to see young Indians made up as #Shiva in blue urging people to watch #TheKashmirFiles - our film based on #KashmiriPandits genocide! This time it is #Pain of the victims of terrorism anywhere in the world that is connecting people. The film is a movement now. #TheKashmirFiles (sic).”

The Kashmir Files tells the true story of atrocities against the Kashmiri Pandits in 1990, during the Kashmir insurgency. Based on video interviews of the first generation victims of The Kashmir Genocide of Kashmiri Pandit Community, it shows how they were attacked and forced to leave their homes overnight.

The Kashmir Files' cast features Anupam Kher as Pushkarnath, Mithun Chakraborty as Brahma Dutt, Darshan Kumar as Krishna Pandit, Pallavi Joshi as Radhika Menon, Bhasha Sumbali as Shraddha Pandit and Chinmay Mandlekar as Farooq Malik aka Bitta, among others. The film is bankrolled by Tej Narayan Agarwal, Abhishek Agarwal, Pallavi Joshi and Vivek Agnihotri under the Zee Studios, IAmBuddha and Abhishek Agarwal Arts banners.
