Amul paid a heartfelt tribute to legendary musician Pandit Shivkumar Sharma. The santoor maestro died on May 10.
Dairy brand Amul paid a heartfelt tribute to legendary musician Pandit Shivkumar Sharma who died on May 10 in Mumbai. He was 84. In a post on social media, Amul shared a graphic and captioned it, “Tribute to the legendary maestro santoor player (sic).”
The musician, who was born in Jammu, has been credited with popularising the once little-known musical instrument, santoor. Following his demise, the internet as well as fans flooded Twitter with condolence messages and paid their last respects to the santoor maestro.
“Unke har saans mein saaz tha,” reads the caption on the graphic of Amul’s post.

Over the past two years, in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic, Pandit Shivkumar Sharma hardly stepped out of his residence. However, he was occasionally spotted at events. Pandit Shivkumar Sharma was suffering from kidney-related ailments for the past six months. He was undergoing dialysis as well. Pandit Shivkumar Sharma passed away due to a cardiac arrest.
