A section of advocates staged a demonstration outside the Madras High Court campus on Thursday demanding action against Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Member of Parliament Nishikant Dubey and others for their remarks against the judiciary following Supreme Court’s recent orders on grant of assent to Bills passed by State legislatures and the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2025.
Lawyers’ Centre for Democracy and Social Causes, All India Lawyers Union, People Rights Protection Centre, Indian Association of Lawyers, Advocate Association for Equality, Democratic Advocates Association, All India Lawyers Association for Justice, All India Lawyers Council, Tamil Nadu Murpokku Vazhakaringarkal Peravai and Manitheneya Valakarignar Sangam participated in the demonstration.

The High Court of Karnataka on Tuesday ordered the issue of a notice to the State government on a PIL petition, which had complained about disturbances caused to people residing in the localities around the National Public School situated in Rajajinagar 5th block due to use of loudspeakers with high volume in the school and parking of school buses in residential areas.
