
A worker’s hand is behind goods enjoyed by people: Virudhunagar Collector

Virudhunagar Collector emphasizes the hard work of the working class behind every product, celebrating Labour Day.
Hard labour of the working class was behind the benefits of each and every product the common man is enjoying, said Virudhunagar Collector, V. P. Jeyaseelan.
Participating at the Gram Sabha meeting held at P. Pudupatti village near Kariyapatti on the occasion of May Day, the Collector said the untiring efforts of the labour force have turned forests into farm lands for producing food for the world. Similarly, the hills have been broken into pieces to lay roads for the comfortable travel of the people.
The Gram Sabha meeting had been organised on Labour Day in order to hail the labour of the workforce. “May Day has been declared as a holiday with wages for the workers,” he added.
Various labour laws have ensured that the workers got to work only for eight hours a day so that they could take rest adequately.
At the Gram Sabha meetings held at all the village panchayats in the district, a resolution was adopted that the village would not allow child labour in any work and those who had not attained 18 years in hazardous jobs.
The villagers also resolved to ensure that no person below 18 years was out of school.
Project Director (District Rural Development Agency), R. Dhandapani, Assistant Director (Panchayats), Aravind, Aruppukottai Revenue Divisional Officer, Kanagaraj, were among those who took part in the meeting.
