4 iconic roles we would love to see Ajith Kumar revisit. On Wednesday Wishlist

Ajith Kumar will next be seen in Thunivu, his 61st film as an actor. Meanwhile, in this week's Wednesday Wishlist, here are four roles we would love to see him revisit.

Ajith Kumar, considered one of Tamil cinema’s biggest stars, is gearing up for the release of his 61st film. The makers on Wednesday, September 21, announced that it is titled Thunivu. They also shared its first-look poster. It features him in an intense avatar. Ajith has never shied away from experimenting with his reel image. This has helped him bring some much-loved characters to life. In this week's Wednesday Wishlist, here is a look at four iconic roles we would love him to revisit or reinvent in the years to come.

In 2007, Ajith stepped into Rajinikanth’s shoes for Billa, a remake of Superstar’s 1980 classic of the same name. AK’s take on the iconic character worked well as the film became a cult hit in its own right. It would be interesting to see if he is able to do the same to Baashha, often regarded as one of the finest mass movies of all time. The Suresh Krissna-directed actioner featured Thalaivar in the role of a ruthless don with a past. The very thought of Ajith starring in a sequel, in essence, to Baashha is quite appealing, to say the least.

Mankatha is widely regarded as the film that helped Ajith Kumar consolidate his standing as a mass hero. The director Venkat Prabhu’s action-thriller saw him sport the classic salt-n-pepper look for the first time in his career. His character ACP Vinayak Mahadev had negative shades, something that upped the film’s thrill quotient. Fans have been eager to see him reprise the role in a sequel for quite some time. Some of them, in fact, even urged Venkat to work on the project when he recently posted a photo with the star and congratulated him for completing 30 years in the industry.

Siruthai Siva helped Ajith consolidate his standing as a favourite of the family audience. The two first teamed up for Veeram, which featured AK as an authoritative elder brother. It had a sentimental storyline and also featured a liberal dose of action. They reunited for Vedalam, which followed the same formula.

While Vivegam underperformed, it too opened quite well at the box office. It is, however, Viswasam that ardent fans consider to be their most memorable outing.

It saw Ajith play the role of a caring father and proved to be a treat for those fond of rural action dramas. While Viswasm wasn’t a revolutionary film, its perfect packaging helped it overpower Rajinikanth’s Petta at the box office. It would be an absolute delight for a section of the audience to see them reunite for a rural mass entertainer.

Ajith is no stranger to multi-starrers. The actor was seen alongside Mammootty in Kandukondain Kandukondain (2000). The next year, he shared screen space with Shah Rukh Khan in Santosh Sivan’s Asoka. Post that, he focused on solo-hero projects to do justice to his image. The overwhelming response to RRR, which starred Jr NTR and Ram Charan as the parallel leads, illustrates that multi-starrers can be big draws if done right. The box-office performance of Kamal Haasan’s Vikram too underlined the same. Given these trends, collaborating with other A-listers for star-studded films could work wonders for Ajith and help him continue his reign.
