PM Modi's mother Heeraben Modi turned 100 today. A huge celebration has been planned in Vadnagar where Heeraben spent most of her life and the place where PM Modi was born. The PM visited his mother on the occasion at her residence in Gandhinagar, Gujarat.
Heeraben was born in Palanpur and shifted to Vadnagar after marriage.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi's brother Prahlad Modi said, "My mother was just 15-16 years old when she got married. Due to financial strain and family issues, she never got a chance to study. My mother wanted all her children to be educated. Financial conditions of the family were such we did not have money to pay fees but mother never borrowed money and made sure fees is paid by doing some job."
PM Modi studied at a primary school in Vadnagar till Class 7. The family did not have enough money to pay school fees. PM Modi had only one uniform and whenever the uniform got torn, Heeraben would stitch some other colour cloth in the same place.
In Vadnagar, Heeraben she used to treat small children and females with home remedies. Prahlad Modi said, "My mother knew so many desi nuskhe. She was known as Dossi Maa. Even though she never went to school, she was a doctor in our village. The secret behind completing 100 years is the struggle and hard work Heeraba did during her entire life."
