Where is the leadership? Digambar Kamat hits out at Congress after BJP switch

Digambar Kamat, who dumped the Congress on Wednesday, said that if the leadership was there, the grand old party would have formed the government in Goa in 2017 with 18 MLAs.

Eight Congress MLAs in Goa joined the BJP in the presence of Goa chief minister Pramod Sawant on Wednesday in a daylight coup. Former Goa Chief Minister Digambar Kamat was one among the eight who defected to the saffron outfit.

Speaking exclusively to India Today, Digambar Kamat, who had cited divine consent as a reason behind the defection, said in Goa temples there is a system of prasad and whenever there is a problem one goes to God.

"When I wanted to take a decision, I went to the temples and I said I had taken this vow, but now my workers are angry and they don't want to work for Congress anymore. The prasad that came in my favour was that you go ahead with your wish, I am backing you," Kamat said, recalling his prayers to God.
