The upcoming Volkswagen Virtus sedan will be launched in India on June 9. It replaces the Vento and rivals the Skoda Slavia, Honda City, Hyundai Verna and Maruti Suzuki Ciaz.
Volkswagen will launch the Virtus sedan in the Indian market on June 9, 2022. Pre-bookings for the sedan are already underway. Replacing the Vento in Volkswagen's lineup, it will take on the Skoda Slavia, Honda City, Hyundai Verna and Maruti Suzuki Ciaz.
The Volkswagen Virtus for the Indian market is visually different from its namesake sold in South American markets like Brazil. The Volkswagen Virtus gets LED headlamps with LED DRLs and at the back the tail lamps get LED treatment as well. The GT Line adds sportiness to the exterior with a dual-tone look including a blacked out roof, black ORVMs as well as GT badging and black 16in alloy wheels.
Inside, the Virtus boasts a 10in touchscreen display for the infotainment functions and there's an 8in digital instrument cluster present as well. The features list also includes automatic climate control, sunroof, six airbags, and ventilated front seats to name a few.
In terms of size, the VW Virtus is 4,561mm long, 1,752mm wide and sits on a 2,651mm wheelbase. It has a boot space of 521 litres that can be expanded by flipping down the rear seats. The Volkswagen Virtus Dynamic Line gets a 1.0-litre turbo petrol with 115bhp with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic. The Volkswagen Virtus GT Line gets a 150bhp 1.5-litre turbo petrol paired with either a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed DSG.
Following its world premiere in March, Volkswagen commenced pre-bookings for the sedan. Volkswagen Virtus price will be revealed on June 9, 2022. Expect it to cost roughly the same as the Skoda Slavia, which retails for Rs 10.69 lakh to Rs 17.79 lakh (ex-showroom).
