Months after its debut, the fuel efficiency figures of the new Tata Sierra have finally come into the public domain via an RTI query. The disclosure, accessed by social media user Vahan Warta, sheds light on the SUV’s ARAI-certified mileage.
According to certification data from the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI), the Sierra’s efficiency figures vary across its engine lineup:
The naturally aspirated petrol variant remains the only powertrain without a certified efficiency figure so far.
Despite this missing piece of information, the Sierra’s market response has been anything but muted. The SUV recorded over 70,000 bookings within the first 24 hours, eventually crossing the one lakh mark, highlighting strong initial demand.
Deliveries commenced on 15 January 2026, and Tata Motors has already confirmed over 10,000 units delivered within weeks of rollout. The numbers suggest that buyers have prioritised design, brand value, and overall package over the absence of complete spec disclosure.
To keep up with demand, Tata Motors is ramping up output at its Sanand manufacturing facility, where the Sierra shares production lines with the Tata Nexon. Monthly production is expected to touch 15,000 units in the near future.
