India Today
A video of a family preparing sandwiches on a train has left internet users divided about civic sense in public spaces.
A video of a family preparing vegetable sandwiches inside a train compartment has gone viral after being reshared on X, drawing sharp criticism over hygiene and public etiquette, while others defended the act as a practical choice during long journeys.
The video was originally shared on Instagram by Divya Jain, featuring her family assembling sandwiches during a train journey. In the clip, a woman is seen spreading green chutney on bread while other family members slice vegetables, all seated on their berths. The reel later made its way to X, where it attracted heavy criticism.

Several users on X slammed the act, calling it inconsiderate and unhygienic. Some argued that preparing food in a confined public space can cause discomfort to fellow passengers, particularly due to smell and cleanliness concerns. Some went as far as calling for such behaviour to be banned on trains.
Others, however, defended the family. Many pointed out that long train journeys often leave passengers dependent on homemade food, especially amid frequent complaints about the quality and pricing of railway catering. Supporters argued that eating and preparing food is a practical necessity, not a public offence.

Leon Panetta said Iran war was not an unexpected risk. He pointed out that for years, US security officials have known Iran could disrupt global oil supplies by blocking the Strait of Hormuz. According to him, this was a well-known danger, but one that appears to have been overlooked in the current conflict.
