The trailer of Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu is finally out now. It shows Silambarasan as a simple man who eventually delves into a world of crime.

Director Gautham Menon's upcoming film, Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu, features Silambarasan AKA Simbu in the lead role. On September 2, the makers unveiled the film's trailer amid huge expectations. The three-minute-long trailer shows Simbu as Muthu, who hails from a village. We can also see him handling guns and other weapons. The trailer begins with an ominous voiceover, in Menon’s signature style: Sometimes, speaking the truth is much more difficult than narrating a story, the audience is warned, as the screen is cut to a young Silambarasan peeking out a moving train.

Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu documents the rise of Muthu, a naive simpleton, in a notorious world of crime. The trailer is led by Menon’s voiceover, documenting Muthu’s ascent in the Mumbai underworld. It also keeps switching between the different phases of Muthu’s life, introducing us to the various characters in Muthu’s universe including Radikaa Sarathkumar, Muthu’s mother, Siddhi Idnani, Muthu’s romantic interest, and Neeraj Madhav.

You can watch the trailer here:

The action drama is produced by Ishari K Ganesh under the production house, Vels Film International. One of the major highlights of Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu teaser is composer AR Rahman's soulful music. It is written by Jeyamohan, and lensed by Siddhartha Nuni. Looks like the film, which is subtitled as Part 1: The Kindling, is part of a duology. The film also marks Menon’s third collaboration with Silambarasan following films such as Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa (2010) and Achcham Yenbadhu Madamaiyada (2016). The film will be released in the theatres on September 15.

Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu features Simbu, Kayadu Lohar, Raadika Sarathkumar, Siddique and Neeraj Madhav in important roles. The film's shooting took place in Tiruchendur and Mumbai as well. The film's technical crew comprises cinematographer Siddhartha Nuni, and editor Anthony.
