The post was shared by Ben Goodey, founder of Spicy Margarita, on LinkedIn, where he talked about how deeply ingrained workplace habits could be, even in flexible environments.
He began by recounting a message from someone on his team: “Is it okay if I work this weekend instead of today? Not feeling my best.”
His response, he said, was immediate: “Of course, and you never need to ask this company. You can work whenever you want.”
But what stood out to him was the hesitation that followed.
“Team member: ‘I know, but I still feel awkward if I don't say.’”
