Bengali mother scolds monkey for eating soap, hands it a potato instead
India Today
Just when you think you've seen it all on the internet, a video of a Bengali mother scolding a monkey for eating soap and offering it a potato instead will surely make you giggle.
A monkey, a bar of soap, and an Indian mother who refuses to let nonsense slide, this viral video has all the ingredients of a perfectly chaotic yet heartwarming moment.
The clip shared by digital creator Pritam on Instagram has struck a chord online for its sheer warmth and humour. The video, captioned with the line “Maa is always maa (a mother is always a mother)”, captures a moment that is equal parts funny and deeply endearing.
It begins with a monkey casually attempting to eat what appears to be a bar of soap, clearly mistaking it for food. As the situation unfolds, a man in the background can be heard pointing it out, saying, “Bro, that’s soap.” But before things can go further, a woman steps in, armed not with panic, but with pure maternal instinct.
Holding a potato in her hand, she approaches the monkey and begins gently scolding it, much like a mother would reprimand a child for doing something foolish. Her tone is firm but caring, as she tries to coax the animal into dropping the soap and choosing the safer option instead.
After a brief standoff, her persistence pays off. The monkey finally takes the potato from her hand and discards the soap, much to the amusement of those watching. Moments later, it scurries away, as the woman bids it a casual goodbye, as if wrapping up an everyday interaction.
