
Shrikant Shinde is the youngest leader nominated on Parliamentary Friendship Group

Shrikant Shinde, at 39, becomes the youngest leader of a Parliamentary Friendship Group, promoting India-Indonesia relations.
Among the Members of Parliament (MPs) nominated to the Parliamentary Friendship Groups, Shiv Sena MP Shrikant Shinde is the youngest MP to lead a group.
The 39-year-old MP from Shiv Sena has been nominated as the president of the India-Indonesia Parliamentary Friendship Group. NCP SP MP Supriya Sule, another MP from Maharashtra, has been nominated as the president of the India-Singapore Parliamentary Friendship Group.

A total of 64 Parliamentary Friendship Groups have been formed in the 18th Lok Sabha. Ashok Chavan, Praful Patel will also lead two groups.
“It is a moment of great pride for me, my party and all the citizens of Maharashtra. Platforms like these will further India’s diplomatic interests and deepen our democratic, parliamentary and people-to-people relations. I look forward to working with all MPs from various parties in my group to further strengthen the cultural, economic and social partnership between India and Indonesia,” Mr. Shinde said in a post on his social media handle on X. His group consists of 10 members, including TMC’s Sagarika Ghose.
This is the second time he has been chosen to lead an international parliamentary delegation. The last time, he had represented India in one of the all-party parliamentary delegations formed after Operation Sindoor. His delegation had visited the United Arab Emirates, Sierra Leone, Liberia, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo in May 2025, and had presented India’s position.

The confrontation briefly plunged the House into turmoil before ministers stepped in to restore order.
