The Congress leader later issued a clarification on Monday, claiming that his statements were "misrepresented" by the media. The Congress is part of the three-party Maha Vikas Aghadi government in Maharashtra, along with Shiv Sena and the NCP. While Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray is chief minister, the Maharashtra Home department is with Sharad Pawar's Nationalist Congress Party (NCP).
