
Delhi woman strangles toddler nephew to death in park, keeps body in her lap

A 21-month-old boy was allegedly strangled to death by his aunt in Delhi's Mukherji Nagar area. Police have arrested the accused and launched a probe to determine the motive behind the murder.
A 1-year-9-month-old child died after his aunt allegedly strangled him inside a park in Delhi’s Mukherji Nagar area on Friday afternoon, police said.
Around 1:30 pm, police received a call reporting the alleged murder of a toddler. The caller informed police that a 30-year-old woman, identified as Azra, had choked the child in the park.
A local resident intervened, rescued the child from the woman, and rushed him to hospital. Doctors declared the child brought dead.
The child, identified as Hadi, son of Adil and a resident of Old Seelampur, had come with his mother Uzma to her maternal home. The child’s maternal uncle made the call to the police.
According to police, they found the accused unconscious after the incident and shifted her to Babu Jagjivan Ram Memorial Hospital for medical examination. Police have taken her into custody.
Witnesses and people present in the park said a gardener working there saw the woman allegedly strangling the child and raised an alarm, following which locals gathered and freed the child from her lap before taking him to the hospital.

Amid preparations for an engagement and haldi ceremony in Maharashtra's Dhule district, an argument broke out between two groups over the printing of names on a wedding invitation card, during which three people were attacked with sharp weapons and killed. Three others were injured and are undergoing treatment.
