Two arrested in Hyderabad for producing adulterated ginger-garlic paste in unsanitary conditions, facing legal action.
Two persons were arrested by police for manufacturing adulterated ginger-garlic paste in unhygienic conditions at illegal units in Hyderabad.
The accused were identified as Abdul Aleem, 25, owner of Standard Food Products Ginger and Garlic Paste and a resident near Mir Alam Tank in Bahadurpura, and Jasani Dildar Ali, 46, a businessman residing in Abids.
According to the police, action was initiated on February 13 following credible information that ginger-garlic paste was being manufactured using adulterated ingredients at two locations - a house near Baba Kanta in Sasthri Puram and another premises near the railway tracks in Udangadda.
Officials conducted a raid at the locations in the presence of independent witnesses and found that the accused were preparing the paste in highly unhygienic conditions without following safety or food standards.
The seized material
Investigators said that the accused had procured substandard ginger and garlic, and mixed them with salt, chemicals and chemical powder to artificially increase the consistency of the paste before packaging and selling it in the market.
