Join the 'Prerana-2026' entrepreneurship conference in Mangaluru, empowering SC/ST students to launch their businesses.
Dakshina Kannada Member of Parliament Capt. Brijesh Chowta, on Friday, said the SC/ST Learning and Development Trust and Bolpu have organised ‘Prerana-2026’, an entrepreneurship conference to attract students from Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes towards entrepreneurship. The conference is to take place on Saturday in Mangaluru.
The conference also aims to provide SC/ST students with the necessary guidance to set up their own businesses in the future, the MP said in a statement. The conference will be held at SDM Law College, Mangaluru.
The MP said many ITI, Diploma, and Engineering students from SC/ST communities have the dream, skills, and ability to start their own business in the Dakshina Kannada district.
The Union and State governments have provided many schemes and facilities to help them start businesses. The necessary information about these schemes and guidance on bank loan facilities will be provided at the conference.
Capt. Chowta said the main objective of the conference is to make the youth of the region employers instead of job seekers. “Prime Minister Narendra Modi is giving high priority to instilling an entrepreneurial spirit in students from the SC/ST community, and therefore, this motivational entrepreneurship conference has been organised as per his wishes,” he said.
Mangalore University Vice-Chancellor P.L. Dharma is set to inaugurate the conference in the presence of D. Vedavyasa Kamath, Mangaluru City South MLA, Pooran Verma, SDM Institutions CEO, Mohanangaiah Swamy, SC/ST Trust president, Vadiraj Samaya, social activist and others.

Hundreds of unemployed youth, including college students, participated in the job fair organised by the Shivamogga district administration and Zilla Panchayat on Friday. The administration invited over 30 companies that offered job opportunities to youth, including those who had failed in SSLC and PUC.

The Department of Clinical Psychology at the All India Institute of Speech and Hearing (AIISH) organised a national seminar and Continuing Rehabilitation Education (CRE) event on “Current trends and emerging challenges in the assessment and management of specific learning disability (SLD)” here recently.
