
Tribals in Yelagiri Hills get first Tangedco office

Residents in Yelagiri Hills near Tirupattur town got their first Tangedco office in the village on Thursday ending years of trek to Jolarpet, the nearest town that has the Tangedco office some 20 km on its foothills. Accompanied by Jolarpet MLA K. Devaraji, Collector Amar Kushwaha inaugurated the Tangedco office asking residents, re mostly tribals, to make use of the facility. The tribal villages have around 4,000 residents who had to travel to Jolarpet town to get electricity connection, make payment of power bills. As it was a long pending demand, the unused community hall in the village has been refurbished into a Tangedco office. The office will have a full-time assistant engineer (A.E) with adequate Tangedco staff to attend to complaints, officials said.
