Fatal collision between goods truck and TNSTC bus in Tamil Nadu leaves 3 dead, 16 injured, investigation ongoing.
Three people were killed and at least 16 were injured after a goods truck collided with a Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (TNSTC) bus near Thenaru bridge near Karaikudi of Sivaganga district on Monday (May 5, 2025) night.
As the injured were taken to Karaikudi government hospital, police said, mortal remains of three men who died on the spot were kept at the hospital.
The goods truck with loaded carriage which was plying from Erode district on the Karaikudi-Devakottai road collided with the TNSTC bus, which was headed from Tiruchi to Rameswaram, after the truck driver reportedly lost control.
Three men in the truck – Arumugam, Karuna and Tamil Pandian – all natives of Dindigul died on the spot, police said
Of the 16 injured, three were identified as – truck driver Rueben, bus driver Nagaraj and conductor Selvendra Prasad – who were severely injured and referred to Government Rajaji Hospital in Madurai.
Karaikudi police have registered a case and further investigation is underway.
