Experience vibrant temple car festivals in Dindigul and Theni with beautifully decorated deities and enthusiastic devotees.
Thousands of devotees on Friday witnessed the Chithirai temple car festival of Sri Abirami Amman Temple in Dindigul.
Following special pujas by the temple priests to the deities Lord Padmagreeswarar and Goddess Abirami Amman, the temple car procession began at around 6 a.m..
The deities were carried around the four car streets in the vibrantly decorated temple car which was pulled by ardent devotees. Devotees in large numbers had gathered along the route of the procession for darshan. A large number of police personnel were deployed along the route of the procession to ensure the smooth conduct of the event.
In Theni district, thousands of devotees witnessed the car procession of Gowmariamman Temple at Veerapandi on Friday.
An aesthetically decorated Goddess was mounted on a palanquin and brought to the base of the car. The Goddess was placed on the holy car at an auspicious time and special pujas were performed to the Goddess. Devotees had gathered in large numbers for darshan.
The temple car was decorated with multi-coloured clothes, festoons and flowers and was pulled by devotees amid the chanting of hymns. A large number of police personnel were deployed to ensure the smooth conduct of the event.
