This stray dog regularly tags along with Mumbai Police at Marine Drive
India Today
A video of a street dog running with a police vehicle on Marine Drive, Mumbai, has highlighted the unique bond between the animal and the police officers patrolling the area.
Anyone who frequents Marine Drive may have seen him before, a stray indie keeping pace with Mumbai Police vehicles as if it’s part of his daily routine. When a video of the dog casually jumping into a patrol van went viral, it wasn’t a surprise to the officers on duty, only to the internet.
Shared on Instagram, the video was shot by a biker. It shows a street dog sprinting confidently alongside a Mumbai Police vehicle as it cruises down Marine Drive. What begins as an amusing chase quickly turns into a scene straight out of a feel-good film, the dog effortlessly leaps into the police vehicle, as if it has done this many times before. Moments later, when the vehicle slows near the seafront, the dog hops out with equal ease and trots towards the walkway, appearing ready to “stand guard” over the crowds enjoying the ocean breeze.
Curious, the biker approaches a policeman on patrol to ask about the canine companion. The officer, speaking in Marathi, casually confirms that the dog is one of their own, a familiar presence who regularly accompanies the police along Marine Drive. His response suggests this isn’t a one-off incident but part of an everyday routine built on quiet trust.

The video’s caption captures the sentiment perfectly, calling the dog an “absolute star” and celebrating the bond between the stray dog and the Mumbai Police.

The world is facing an energy crisis as Iran blocked supplies passing through the Strait of Hormuz after strikes by the US and Israel. Vital subsea cables that carry global internet traffic also pass through Hormuz. Any damage to them could trigger internet outages and hit financial systems across countries, including in India.

Images of pre-Islamic Zoroastrian kings and warriors have been unveiled in Iran, evoking courage and resilience. Many say the Ayatollah regime in Iran revives the country's Persian identity during conflicts with Israel and the US. But this Persian heritage has always run deep, and is visible from time to time, in both dissent and unity.

The US-Israel war was meant to decapitate Iran's hardline leadership, but the killing of the "pragmatic" Ali Larijani might have done the opposite. By eliminating consensus-builder Larijani, the Israelis might have removed any scope of talks and pushed Iran into deeper hardline control. This could be a ploy to keep the war going.
