Telangana Collector turns village revenue officers, assistants into tennis ball boys

Nirmal Tehsildar has issued an order deploying VRA's to work at the tennis court every day at 5:30 pm, while Collector Musharaf Ali Farooqi plays tennis.
Collector Musharaf Ali Farooqi has asked Village Revenue Officers (VRO) and Village Revenue Assistants (VRA) in Telangana's Nirmal district to work as ball pickers and personal attendants when he goes to practice lawn tennis.
Nirmal Tehsildar has issued an order deploying VRA's to work at the tennis court every day at 5:30 pm to deliver balls while Collector is playing tennis.
On April 11, Nirmal Urban MRO issued an order allocating 21 VRAs i.e three VRAs per day to assist the collector at the lawn tennis court.
The 32-year-old Musharaf Farooqi is a 2014 batch IAS who was born and brought up in Hyderabad. He earlier served at Greater Hyderabad municipal corporation and Hyderabad collector's office.
Recently, Telangana government abolished the VRO and VRA systems by bringing a new revenue law. Employees were assured that they would be adjusted in other branches of the governance. VRAs used to act as assistants in various functions in the Revenue Department.
